Sizzle Reel ~ 17 Aug 2014

Should a person want to pitch a reality TV show, or perhaps approach investors for a film project, typically they’ll make a sizzle reel. The reel contains titillating footage that captivates viewers all while telling who, what, where, why, and when. The reel’s spectacular video display then leads those watching to ask the ever so important question: “How much?”

Today Venus and Jupiter align in grand and glorious Leo. Astrologers might be inclined to forecast that those knowing astrology may feel the itch to purchase a record number of lottery tickets in the next 24 hours. It might be wise to verify that the Venus and Jupiter conjunction somehow impacts the ruler of your 8th house, which is where the essence of other people’s money lurks. Regardless, the Venus-Jupiter profile remains innately optimistic, opportunistic, adventurous, entrepreneurial, larger than life and risk-taking.

So, does today highlight the start of a “go for it” cycle?

Yep.

Anything else that needs to be known about the aspect?

Yep.

(Insert sigh here) What else needs to be known?

Venus and Jupiter square Vesta in Scorpio this very day. True, the spark is there and it will likely be a fire starter. Following ignition, the fire must be watched, guarded, fostered and preserved... the fire within, that is. Often others expect the spark to light up the enthusiasm and action of others. It is often assumed that when sparked, others will light and carry the torch for you. Maybe they will. Here, Vesta with Jupiter is about your inner fire.

The fire in your belly needs to maintain a perfect level of creative combustion. Cultivation of ones instincts as to how much, when and what should be done to perfectly stoke the fire must occur as routine. Here’s more good news. Jupiter and Venus now quincunx Neptune in Pisces. While you may have been taught that three logs on the campfire lends to a perfect marshmallow toasting fire, the intuition of Neptune might declare two logs prevent torching marshmallows into cinder and permit creating the perfect golden crust. Trust the instincts that support change for the more ideal.

Indeed, trust those instincts. Not only is Venus’ and Jupiter’s “make an adjustment” quincunx to Neptune intact, Venus and Jupiter also sextile the centaur Asbolus. This centaur was known as an auger, who possessed an amazing skill set for reading real world conditions and interpreting the environment. Asbolus would note things like, “The wood is green, more kindling required.” Or “Go now. Expedite. Do it now” or conversely, “Hold up. Slow down. Throttle back.” Asbolus in his day learned the life lesson that a full-blown charge may not be required. Sometimes, showing up, engaging and sizzling will do the trick... or at least that’s what Venus-Jupiter in fiery Leo likes to contend.

On the 25th of this month, just a tad more than a week away, and on a first traditional day of a work week, Monday, Venus advances in Leo to the square point of Mars and Saturn, aligned in Scorpio that same day.

Yeah, yeah, Mars is with Saturn. We’ve all read those books. But Saturn rewards effort and responds to those with enthusiasm, vision and sufficient fire in the belly to endure the course on a creative path. Here’s another tidy detail: Venus square Mars is hot. Passion hot. Sizzle hot! Though it’s white hot, touching (engagement with it) to find out how hot cannot hardly be resisted!

Where there’s sizzle there’s likely support... and monetization.

The suggestion is not that a sizzle reel is the only alternative. The suggestion is that sizzle applied to all places in which your passion projects, heart’s desires and burning dharma yearnings are represented serves you well.

Here’s what you can do:

Should you be searching for a job, rewrite your resume. Make it factual, reeking of confidence and can do. Any skill set you possess that you despise doing... well, don’t include that.

Visit your profile on every online account. Redo you. Add your latest accolades. Refer to awards, accomplishments and successes. Update the status of projects. Consider a new head shot for your avatar... one where your hair looks great to honor Leo. No selfies.

Reexamine any proposals or pitches you have in written form. Revise, enhance and sizzle it.

For each proposal or pitch you have in the mental, percolation queue get your computer’s camera fired up. Pitch to the computer. Review the video and give yourself a fair critique focusing only on what you intend to improve. Mercury has recently migrated to Virgo. Being critical isn’t fun and it won’t help.

Perfect your video pitch and where relevant, post it online (remember it’s there for perpetuity even if you pull it down).

Reduce the urge to post comments on any boards or social networks that do not directly advance your cause. Resist joining the bandwagon of going on about hot topic social issues. If you want to make any commentary at all, make it productive, solution-oriented and steer it clear of trolls and into the hands of those who can do something about it.

Every day review your basic skill sets. Admire your accomplishments. Take the time for “atta-girl” or “atta-boy” moments so that at the end of the day, you can enjoy the end of the day.

This past week I received an astronomical telegram stating that the anomalistic, intriguing and maverick star/black hole system SS433 shot out some intense emanations. This point, at 20 Capricorn, often stimulates controversy and results factional splits. While these effects may not represent ideal agendas, it is worth noting that some of the best ideas of the time may suggest radical adjustments to status quo. As long as Saturn (who rules the sign where this object resides) can be shown the reason, practicality and the gain of efforts pitched, and as long as Saturn does not feel there is an effort to unseat his position, and as long as Saturn senses the pitching parties are in for the duration, he is likely to view the proposal with receptivity.

So, there it is. Within the next eight days, it’s time to shimmer, shine and make a bold splash of undeniable presence the brilliance of which are rarely seen. How do I know this? Last night I looked to the heavens. And in the heavens this is what I saw:
